...even with being in the auxiliary of a punky celtic/ska band that has been throwing this sort of thing into their musical gumbo for quite some time. Who knew? It remains to be seen if this brings a new lease on life for old time sailing balladry, or if it will be fad of the season, sort of like how bluegrass had its 15 minutes in the wake of Oh Brother, Were Art Thou? But of course, the Sex Pistols(well, Steve Jones) was all over this a long time ago....

You all remember the swing revival? Maybe rock will be cool again in 2029.

For once, I was ahead of the curve... :) I was shocked when "The Wellerman" came up in my twitter general feed the other day, love that tune long time....

People are still singing "Brown Sugar"...
If we were to try to expunge the impacts of slavery from our musical heritage, "American music" styles from jazz to blues to modern pop would suddenly cease to exist.

(On the other hand, "Brown Sugar" is still cringe-worthy, as much as I love the tune, yeah, I could never perform it in public!)
