So Otto the Big Lug blew out his ACL on Sunday. Took him to our vet Monday, she referred us to the osteo surgery specialist vet and we took Otto in today.
During the pre-op they found a tumor. Did a biopsy and cat scan and it doesn't look good. They're sending it for more tests before doing surgery to remove it.
So he's coming home. Knee surgery is postponed until we deal with the cancer.
He's 7 years old and a Good Boy.
I'm pretty much floored. I'd come to accept the (high cost) knee surgery, which has a good prognosis. I was not ready for this at all.
We'll bring him home and give him lots of love. We'll know more tomorrow afternoon.

Sorry to hear that. Our pit bull, who had the same knee surgery, also ended up with that diagnosis. As you said, lots of love. Keep him safe and happy as long as you can. Peace.

been down that road a couple of times. Our last 2 Golden's. Depends where the cancer is located as the vet will tell you. Some are more easily coped with than others.
Hope you get better news soon. The darned things should be more durable...

One of my dogs was diagnosed with a fairly advanced case of lymphoma. She got chemo and was in remission - in spite of the late stage diagnosis and with no noticeable side effects.
She did pass a couple of years ago but of old age hip problems.
Don't give up. There are treatments that work. Keep a positive attitude - our dogs know when we are down.
