Hard to believe that there are 4 Subway heads and 1 pre pedal in the TB classifieds all on page 1.
The new WD 800 must be amazing or, bass players are a fickle bunch.

It would be hard to believe that the answer is both since that new amp has only been out for about 5 minutes and I don't think that many people have tried it.

And I thought guitar players were bad...

Well, I'm one of those who owns a relatively new D800+ as well as an original Walkabout (v2), along with a few other very nice amps, but I am also looking hard at the new WD800 because I am definitely interested in a higher powered Walkabout (if the WD does that).
Personally, I am not going to buy a WD800 until I get a chance to hear/try one in person with my primary cab (CN212) .. I rarely buy stuff until I can hear it with my own ears.

but having said that, why exactly do you care what other bass players decide to do with their current gear or what they do about new gear ? ... this being the land of the free and all ...

Junk? Balderdash. I sold the D800 in favor of the additional features. The D800+ is the best bass head I've ever owned in over 40 years of playing. I'm only selling because I like the nuance a tube pathway renders and the WD800 has tons of EQ for taste. It's a product line that has evolved rather quickly and it's all solid gear.

I've been happy with my M-Pulse 600 as my only amp for years ever since I picked it up used... shrug

I have to admit though, the WD-800 looks great and has some functionality my M-Pulse is lacking that would be really nice (i.e. headphone output). I'd love to have one.

I think there is a level of trust among many of us with regard to Mesa in general. Then we watched @agedhorse picking our brains and coming out with great amps. I was part of the pent-up demand for the Walkabout, and when he implied that the tone of the WD-800 somewhat approximates the Walkabout was what convinced me to give it a try. I played both the D800 and D800+ hoping that they would cop some of the Walkabout tone but that wasn't what those amps were about. The WD-800 is a different beast, and delivers as promised. It's close to the Walkabout tonewise, but it's much louder and can do clean and loud, which the original could not do. I'm really happy I pulled the trigger.

So there's also gonna be a Big Bang in the classifieds too, as soon as I get around to it.

Probably never been a better time to buy a used Walkabout. I tried one in a music store a couple of times and honestly couldn't understand what the fuss was about. IMHO, the amp seemed incredibly under powered and the lows were totally out of control and difficult to tame.

Of course the WD 800 specifically addresses both of those concerns. I must admit I love the control layout and I am tempted...but I need another amp about as much as I need another hole in my head. That means a WD 800 will be available for one of you . You're Welcome .
