I just got asked to play a Leslie West tribute show with former members of Mountain and The Leslie West band - including Corky Laing on drums.
I'm stoked, and couldn't not share it.
Lots of work ahead. Diving in right now...

Bring a small rig. Corkys drum set will take up most of the stage lol. We did a show with him. I think he had like 8 Toms.
Sounds like a fun gig, enjoy! I had a chance to open for Leslie & Laing in the mid 90's, kind of a rough time for them. West used our guitar players double Marshall stack, and when he took the stage promply turned the volume to the max. Lol This was a small venue, and the place was vibrating! Unbeliveable tone, great show. He was a very nice man.
If you're taking requests... "Theme from an Imaginary Western". Hoping the concert footage will wind up on youtube or something.

Oh yah! You're a smart guy. This is the kind of work that creates more work. You're in NYC, right? It's the kind of place that can grind you down but also a place you can get lucky. I had a moment in 1984, playing at The Limelight on 6th avenue, opening for Pee Wee Herman. It led me to performance artist Invalid Link Removed, which led to Madonna coming to see Frank at Gerde's Folk City, and playing at Danceteria, Pyramid Club, and what was then the Other End. All long ago and far away now.
