Wenge or Ovangkol?

Comparing the neck on my 2008 $$ to my 1994 Fortress one, I always preferred the $$.

Here's the thing... I've been offered a good deal (or what I think is a good deal) on this bass. It's a 1997 Streamer Pro M in custom cream white.

Seller is saying that the neck is ovangkol but I'm certain it's wenge.

Also something else odd... The colour. Obviously isn't a standard Pro M finish, but the bass isn't in the custom shop gallery either. Does anyone know why that might be?

My Evil Buddy - you probably know more about Warwicks than I do (I only have one) but I think the LX Pro and the Pro M were very similar designs, if the color options don't look right for a Pro M have you checked to make sure it's not an LX. Not positive but I think the biggest difference (other than country of orgin) is the control layout, with the LX at 4 knobs and the M at 3 knobs. But then again, I could be wrong, I'm sure an expert will jump in shortly to correct me if I've made a false statement. In any case, I think you can send the serial number in to Warwick and they'll give you all the build specs and date.
BTW - looking like London area sometime the week of March 12th if you're still up for a pint.

Definitely Wenge for sure. I made a nice matching Ovankol top and back a while ago for a client. It's good to work with and I love the looks of it nicely oiled for sure.

And in case you're wondering it's a 6 string piccolo vbass, one of kind for sure. The customer supplied the Warmoth neck, bridge and Roland pickup, 13 pin connector and electronics. All switching of sounds are on the vbass pedal.
