My case came today. It's nice. As someone else said somewhere, it fits like a wetsuit. I almost thought it wasn't going to fit, but I worked the bass in and now it's cozy (top to bottom). I was dubious of the lack of a neck cinch, but I'm not going to miss it. It just fits really well.
Quality is great. It looks like it's going to provide great protection, but it's not heavy. And it looks like it's going to last for a long time. I really like the zipper orientation on the pockets, which are made for accessing things in them when the bass is laying on it's ribs vs when the bass standing upright....something I would have never thought to care about, but...duh.
I immediately like the strap and pad better and the handles seem to be in just the right place. There are a number of other grabbies here and there that I think will be useful when I have it out and about town and loading in and out of things, but we'll see which ones I end up using. The bow pocket also looks like it was made to accommodate a bow case, which is nice, because I don't think the Moordian is. Really well designed and constructed at first blush.
I had the Std Moordian for a long time, maybe over a decade and I really have no complaints about it. I'll need to live with this one for a while before I really know, but I'm feeling good about my choice right now. Would not put anyone off of Moordian as an easy choice, though I'm not regretting mine either.
I will say that before I had my bass all the way into the Messina case, it already had dog hair stuck to it, which never happened with the Moordian. It's the difference in material. Moordian is kind of nylon/satiny, whereas the Messina is rougher. I think it will make it hold up better over time, but it's gonna be a little furry.
