Went to Guitar Center Looking at P's

So I went to GC to look at P-basses,they have a 20% coupon so was looking into that Honeyburst Nitro USA with the coupon its $720.Well they where really busy so I sat down with an AM STD P and really liked it the price tag said $1099 but with the 20% off it would be $880.I wonder what kind of trade they would give me for my 04 Mexi P. Any opinions?

This. GC will always screw you over on a trade in.
To be fair to GC, they are in the retail business and the idea is to try to make money. On the trade-in, they will try to turn it around and sell it for $300. Who knows how long they might have to sit on it? They have to pay some sort of commission to the salesperson, then still pay the rent and keep the lights on, etc. When they do sell it, the buyer will have the right to bring it back in within 30 days for any reason because they stand behind it. I don't think they really are unfair.

This is the same as Long and McQuade. Yes, I get that they're a business and their primary goal is to make money, but geez.

At least they didn't offer you $50 for it like most pawn shops will. Never ever ever ever go to a pawnshop to sell your gear. Dirty female canines.

20% off $1099 is a savings of 219.80. That would net out at $879.20, not $800.

My math skills are better than my bass-playing.:laugh::laugh:

I have an American special P and I've tried a few Am Std Ps but I didn't like any of them as much as the special. It may have just had a better setup when I tried it but that one is really awesome. I've flipped a lot of basses and pedals and plan to keep that one. Either way Ps are pretty awesome.
