I'm no longer in the area, but I lived in Hendersonville in the 1990s and worked in Laurel Park for a few years. (I didn't play bass during those years, I suspect finding gigs would have been tough, though.) snailplow, have you lived there long enough that you remember the Poplar Lodge?
Beautiful country up that way, Asheville's still one of my favorite places to visit. It's been two and a half years, I'm due for a return.![]()
Oh yeah, I've been to the Poplar Lodge a few times, including my sister's wedding reception.
I was born and raised here, and I hate it to my core.......b/c not only is it hard to find a gig, but when you find one, it's usually bluegrass, or country-western......so I just play along with recorded music.
Asheville's a little better, but not much b/c there you mostly have a bunch of granola crunchers wanting to play "neo-bluegrass".
