Double Bass Western Swing

Hey, that was nice. Thanks, you guys.
Good feel, good spirit, no BS (which, sometimes lives in some "jazzbos" we all know) The wimen sound and look good too....who could ask for more?
Hey Gear, us "jazzbos" ain't as closed down as you may think.
I'd much rather listen to people like this who "really mean it" no matter the genre. You can see it and feel it.
I spend much of my time listening to the great music of Brazil, too. They really mean it, as well.

So.....how can I hook up with that brunette lady singer in yer clip? :hiding:

Gearhead..I caught them on RFD TV one nite, but only got the last twenty minutes. This gal sang this song and I was, and still am, mezmerized!!! When I don't care to listen to anything else, I can listen to this and wind up feeling great. Just a killer version of a killer song!! I keep it on here ready to key up at anytime. Some of these "hat acts" should sit back and take notice.

Bob

That Time Jumpers song almost makes me cry; it's gorgeous.

The YouTube clip is from the Time Jumpers "Jumpin' Time" DVD, which I read about here in a thread that mentioned Dennis Crouch, the bass player. That DVD is nearly the best thing in my collection.

One of the guys in the band says that they never really practiced any of the songs; that they just evolved. He called it "cowboy jazz."

No problem, really glad you all can enjoy it.

Western Swing is one (of many) of my favorite styles (styles within a style really) of music and there aren't many good bands still doing it justice today unfortunately.

Marcus - most of us Roots Country fans can't stand corporate "New Country" crapola. There's a pretty strong underground following for the real stuff - sad to say but most of the "real" country music nowdays gets put in the "alt-country" category. Silly, isn't it?

Paully Warbo - you know I am just kidding about the "jazzbo" thing. :D

Beautiful -- Ms. Sears has a dynamite voice and obviously has the skill to use it. And a whole fiddle section! I'm jealous. I thought we were gonna get another up-tempo "Yellow Rose" or something, and here we get a beautiful slow-dancing ballad. What's not to like?

I like almost any music, but for me, I prefer my country music "old school". Not a big fan of modern corporate "country" music.

You and me both, Marcus. A lot of the new stuff seems as throwaway as a gum wrapper but tunes like this one will always be sad enough to bring a tear to a glass eye.

In their Bio section (could they make it more difficult to use? I don't see how!) I noticed that the blonde singer Carolyn Martin is married to our own Dave Martin. Nice catch Dave!

Watch 'All of Me' and then tell me that the 'fiddle solo' was unrehearsed - that and the crisp ensemble endings... :)
