i've been looking for a bass that can have a whammy bar anyone know of any basses that have a whammy bar or am i going to have to buy one and change the bridge?

warwick makes a bass with a "whammy bar" and so do a few other's. it all really depends on how much u are willing to spend

I own this bass and I think its a nice bass all around. Its a pretty high quality bass so if you end up not using the whammy you still get a really nice solid bass.

i've wanted a tremolo bar on a bass for a while, never been much of a washburn fan tho. but this bass intrigues me. ive never even touched a bass with a whammy, how fun are they?
cause i may have to get rid of my sx bass for one of these.
Not that much fun because you don't get the big pitch changes like you do with a guitar. Personally, I think fretless is more fun than a trem on a bass. I owned a bass with a trem for 10+ years and rarely used it for more than a warble on harmonics.
Well first of all I bought the bass for two reasons, one I wanted a Washburn bass for a long time, and two , I wanted a bass with a whammy so I figured if I didnt like the whammy I would at least still have a bass to play and honestly I will admit it is not as awesome sounding as a whammy on a guitar but it is fun and people always are a little intrigued when you put in the whammy bar. Its a very nice bass, the setup is nice, the finish is nice, and with moderate use (which is the what I use it for) it stays in tune well. I would also like to say that I would one day be interested in possibly switching to a a hipshot of kahler whammy bridge someday. And also I would buy this bass again and want to try and do as much as I can with the whammy. Thats my opinion. Do with it what you may.
That's the way I felt about the bass whammy, too. I was dying for one ever since they came out. Then I started taking lessons from Dave LaRue, and he'd dangle these Sterlings with Kahlers in front of me. So I bought a bass with one on it, and I really dig it but I don't use that bass much anymore.
For regular striaght up bass work, a Kahler is not needed. The Kahler really shines for harmonics, chordal work & with effects, which the typical bass part rarely uses. Even Les Claypool only seems to use his on song intros & endings.
Ah endings. Probably the best use for a bass trem.

Whammys are very expensive and somewhat useless when compared to a whammy on a guitar.
You could just get the Whammy effect pedal, sounds stupid, but beats having to buy and install an actual whammy bar.
Yeah, Kahler is back in the Whammy business. Not sure how much they are on the street; haven't realy heard of anybody carrying them. But, if anybody finds out, let me know!
google whammiworld.com the 4 string Kahlers on there are about 190ish i think.....which is alot cheaper than other places
Kahler 5 & 6 string whammies are not going to be as responsive as their 4 string cousins due to the extra springs/tension (harder to push/pull)
All of my guitars have a Floyd Rose trem in them, so why not get one in my bass???? So I did. I was planning on going hog wild with it.....and it's more mild than I would have wanted. I never actually measured the bending range, but it's nowhere near what my guitars will do. I'm not sure if this is from the Kahler, but this is my only Cirrus with dead spots on the neck from 20-24. Having 7 Peaveys, none of the other ones have any dead spots.
Yes, it looks cool........but doesn't do much. As Billy Sheehan told me, it's a creative way to knock your bass out of tune.
