What’s the cheapest bass you’ve been/are amazed with?

This is my Dean Edge 09 bass. I put tape wound strings on it. It plays and sounds great. It retails for $199.00. I can't say enough good things about it.

Ibanez GIO Soundgear, $15 at Denio's flea market bought on a whim and gave it to a friend-who gave it back to me 10 years later.
Fixed it up last year, new tuner, new D'Addario roundwounds, caveman self-setup via Mark I eyeball. It thumped! My 1st bass, started me playing.

Now I'm in love with my new Rogue VB100 Beatle bass with La Bella flats. Nice woody tone, lightweight, pretty.

Looks even prettier sans pickguard. Floor model from Muscian's Friend-$140usd, free shipping.

I played a number of Ibanez GSR200’s that we’re stellar at any price. But that was years ago. I’m still impressed every time I pick up a Schecter Stiletto.

Squier CV60’s Pbass. Fiesta Red. Pino on the cheap. Excellent basses. Great build.

Same goes for the Sire V3 and V7 series.
I haven’t tried the other Sire models .
Bought my husband a Sire V3- 5 string .
Great preamp .
No problems on build quality on that or the V7 Vintage I owned.

This year I bought a Squier James Johnston Signature Jazz Bass, and a Squier VM Precision Bass Five. Exceptional value for less than $800 for the pair. I'm dumbstruck at how good 'cheap' basses have become.

Early 90s Encore E83 P Bass clone, £40 (~$50) from eBay.

I'm sort of upset I wasted so much money over the years on "fancier" P basses, this one needed a little repair, some new pickup covers, neck screws and a clean/setup. Now it feels and sounds better than anything else I own.

I even think it looks cool, and I don't usually like red basses

For me, it’s a 6 month used Squier Affinity PJ which I bought strung with flat wounds !

It plays great and sounds better then what I could imagine.

Any other nice finds you feel like sharing?

I have the same thing in my arsenal. Because I am who I am I upgraded the bridge and put an active preamp in it. I find it to be as solid and sonic as any Fender PJ.

Cheap , Good quality, Smooth comfort neck , Lightweight , Zero neck dive issue, Great electronic and Amazing tone = Ibanez SR300E.

Mine was an old 70's Northern P bass. Picked it up for like 50 bucks and I love it. Well built, great sound and the neck shape/size is perfect and it's maple which I love. Looks completely different at the moment it's in the middle of an over haul. Took the pick guard off and my buddy is making me a custom stainless steel control plate (Music man style). Love the bass though. Definitely the best 50 bucks I ever spent.
