I'd suggest rethinking your no secondhand stance. Your money can go ridiculously farther. For £1000 I'm sure I could get a rig that would cost upwards of £2000 new. Maybe more.

Also, be sure to try out some SWR. Some people aren't huge fans of them, but I absolutely love mine, I got a 400w half stack (550x and Triad) for 650$. It's plenty loud.

If you go with a separate head and cab, try out the Acme Low B2s or B4s.
