Double Bass What are these?

I got a new (old) DB today, and inside it were these little felt things. They're grey, circular and have a hole in the middle a bit bigger than the end of a pencil. I'm pretty sure they're made of felt.

My guess is that they're something to do with the endpin. Does anyone have any idea as to what they are?

Cheers
Joe

Methinks those are what are known as string felts, which typically come with the strings. You know at the lower end of the string, that has the ball that is secured in the tailpiece slots? The little string felts go between the string ball and the wood of the tailpiece, with the string going through that little pencil tip-sized hole in the middle.

The strings have already got stoppers on them to stop them slipping through.

The disks are about 4 cm diameter (about an inch an a half) so I don't think they'd fit under the tailpiece, also, there's 5 of them
