Ive been GAS'n for a really nice and aggressive Jazz bass. Oh, and one of those newer Squier VM Tele basses, those things look awesome. But I would be super happy with a bad a** monster J bass.

I'm thrilled with my current lineup and my rig is very sweet as well. To be honest, it's an embarrassment of riches and is certainly the result of an attempt to compensate for and escape thinking about my unfortunate 'life circumstances.'

As a result, I've been pretty immune to GAS over the past few years which in part explains my extended absence from TB, but every now and then I have low-level GAS for something completely different like a Wal or a Status Streamline:

A Wal is mostly a "win the lottery wish" since I wouldn't sacrifice several of my basses to get one though, so I rarely think about it. If a Streamline 5 ever shows up in the TB classifieds the GAS situation will be much worse.

As far as rig, I've been thinking of listening to a Mesa Prodigy to see what it sounds like (mostly just curious), but I have SERIOUSLY entertained the idea (and may even follow through) of selling my Bergantino AE410 and vertical AE210 and getting a CN212.

Streamline: way outside my J5 zone.

I'd wink at a Fender Roscoe Beck V if one in my weight zone ever showed up and I was liquid at the same time, but, whatever too

My next move probably involves selling about 8 basses I no longer use, but have had so long it feels traitorous.

I've played a Wal at a GTG before. Definitely a unique sound due to the fact that each string has its own pickup (two actually). I'm not sure I like it enough to have it as my primary bass tone -- I'd have to hear it in the mix -- and I just can't see getting one unless it was destined to be my main player, which would be doubtful.

The Streamline 5 is mostly a nod to my Steinberger XL-2. While I am not a fan of the ergonomics (not the body shape or headless aspect, but where it hangs on your body and the narrow string spacing at the bridge), it has a jaw-dropping tone. Every time I play it at a gig I'm floored by how it sounds. I might even use it as my main bass if it weren't so uncomfortable to play. There's something about that one-piece composite body that makes the tone so crystal clear (and not like a Modulus or Zon). I once even thought of flying to Vegas to buy a rare XL-5W from Ed Roman of all people, which is how desperate I was when I was playing fivers and wanted that killer tone. I just think it would be a fun bass to try, though there's a good chance I would flip it right away if it didn't sound and play like I hoped.

I have too many basses, but the ones I don't gig regularly -- the Rob Allens, the Reverend 5L and the Sadowsky PJ -- are too cool/unique to want to sell. Also I play the RAs at home all the time. The Mouse may be the best couch-noodling bass ever built.
