seriously, i'm working on playing the melody to natalie macmaster's "olympic reel" on my 5-string. i figure if i can play that i can play anything.

Currently, I'm learning that I never should've gotten a credit card when I was 20 (eight years ago), and that working 3 jobs is rough on the body.

Musically, I'm attempting to learn Jaco's version of "Blackbird" by the Beatles. I'm also working on playing and singing at the same time (a very difficult thing IMO).

I don't get it, really. I can sing and play guitar at the same time, but it's like my brain works twice as hard to play bass and not lose my place with the drummer. Any tips? Other than repetition. Bad practice makes bad habits, right?

I'm trying to play Papa was a Rolling Stone and sing it at the same time.

Kinda difficult, because when I sing I can't count, and if there was only one song in the world to count on, it would be this one.

Lately, I've done a few Mötörhead songs (bass & vocals), and I'm very proud to be able to play "Some Skunk Funk" by the Brecker Brothers. Took me almost a year !

Oh yea, and how to keep my trouble making drummer OUT of trouble.

Not exactly *learning* my modes, but definatly practicing them over and over and over again. I'm also learning BELLAVIA by Chuck Mangione (sp?) for my schools marching band. They want someone to play bass (which is unusual in my area) and the teacher threatened to not give me an A in Jazz if I didn't join Marchin... I told him I wouldn't march, wouldn't show up for Band Camp, and wouldn't show up on Football games, and just play in comps, he digged.

The bassline is a repetitive little thing, not very difficult note choices, however the rhythm is a little difficult to site read. Oh yea, that and in the middle there is a little solo trade off thingy between me and the trumpet section
