That GK 412 thing is pretty good.

I use a G-K Fusion 550 and G-K NEO412, if the PA can't handle the bass signal the band gets a foot and leg massage.

Same thing I use inside... As little as I can... Depends on what monitoring is available. Last year it was mostly fEarful 12.6 and mb-fusion. Better monitors in my FOH this year, so probably a Music Man Hd150 and 2x15.

Drum monitor is they key... fEarful 12 sub with a K10 crossed around 200 on it is the plan... Unless I find a good set of 1x15 wedges.

Next time I'm outdoors and need some volume I'm going to try out either a Peavey BAM 210 combo, which gets ridiculously loud even without an extension cab, or a SWR 550x and Ampeg 4x8 cab, which is smooth, clear, and loud. I know both of them are up to the task. The problem is deciding which is the one for the day.

I almost never have FOH support. Old Acoustic Control amps or a new 360 have always worked just fine. They are the same size as an SVT and Fridge, so it just depends on what you want to sound like. Old ACC amps will cost you a whole lot less than an old SVT and Fridge.

Truth. My ACC gear really shines in this type of situation.

GK MBF800 and fF 12/6/1 + 15/6/1

YMMV; but for me, and no FOH/PA, I'm bringing the Big Guns.

Same thing I use for my indoor gigs: huge PA + IEMs. If that's somehow not an option (never happens with my band), it'd be QSC RMW1804 into an Audio Kinesis TC118.

OP: Food for thought.

1) If a PA is really large enough to support drums, then its also large enough to support bass too.

2) No PA support means acoustic drum volume level, so a huge bass rig would just be overkill and need to be turned down so it didn't burry the drums.
