As somebody who suffered very, very severe keyboard gas all through the seventies and eighties, I think it is just fantastic that a huge range of this sort of gear is now available in software form, much of it for free or at least reasonably cheap. Those of you old enough to have dreamed of owning a B3, Fender Rhodes piano and Prophet 5 will know what I'm talking about. Those three instruments would have cost me about two years total income back in the day! Now I can get virtual versions of all three for nothing or very nearly nothing. The size/space/weight advantages are not to be sneezed at, either.

So what are your favourites? Instruments or effects, just post 'em here.

At the moment, I'm really digging the Hammond and Rhodes plug-ins from these guys...

I enjoy using Native's B4 plugin for Organ and I am completely obsessed with the SSL channel strip plugin.....it does amazing things to my tracks. There are some Chris Lord Alge presets that absolutely rock on the SSL.

It is amazing what is available and how good they work. I'm using Native's Massive for synth. BFD for drums. Arturia Jupiter 8 and minimoog V as well as Amplitude 2 Duo LE. There are a few good ones that also came with my Cubase.... I also use a Line 6 Pocket Pod a very good little device for guitar sounds.

Forgot to mention Maxxbass by waves.
A big problem with Waves plugins is they are very expensive. $200 just for Maxxbass.
But if you need to master to an environment like laptop speakers, or a typical TV speaker, then maxxbass can really bring out the bass. It is not a bass booster, in fact it directs energy away from the bass frequencies so you can better hear the bass. They have a patent and they're the only plugin that works the way it does.
If you use it live, you can take a smaller speaker and still hear all the bass low end.
I'm looking forward to find out if it can work with a standalone VST player like the V-Machine.

Ditto---those CLA presets are some of my go-to for the Waves SSL stuff--they're awesome starting points. I use the SSL collection on every project I do, one way or another. I LOVE the SSL EQ for getting just about anything to pop out of a mix better (Got a snare or rhythm guitar that's just not "speaking"? NO problem). The Master Buss Comp REALLY provides the "glue" . . .

As for instruments, I use all the G-Force stuff, the Minimonsta and Oddity getting tons of use. The quality and value of the G-Force instruments are incredible. The instruments that come with Logic are quite good--particularly the B3 and the Electric Piano. I re-amp the Wurly out through an amp and in a mix you'd think it was the real deal.
