What are your other obsessions?

i do more stuff besides music,* but none of it approaches what i'd call "obsession."

my parts axes (assembling/modding/tweaking) might be an activity that's closest to "obsession," but it's pretty low key = i think of something to work on and i might eventually get around to it! but making them play the right way (for me) might lend to a certain amount of "obsessiveness."

* i'm not sure i'd call the music stuff that i do an "obsession," but others might. i think of it as a way of life, a musician's lifestyle, or something along those lines.

I love playing pool 8,9,10 ball and having a table helps being able to just go play a few rack anytime is sweet. I love gardening, convert most my backyard to beds, It some work but in the late summer it is so worth it. NHL hockey this time of year is the best (go Red Wings).

Not sure I’d even call bass an obsession but I also enjoy:
  • Working on instruments of all kinds. I have long wondered if I am better at tech work than playing.
  • Golf, although with kids I don’t get to play much these days.
  • College football, although NIL is starting to sour that.

I'm kind of a little bit of a Star Wars geek...(that's me with my son...who is also a bass player)

And I have a few...and that's not all of them.

I worked for 32 years as a museum curator so I’ve always been obsessed with history, especially Michigan history.

I played recreational hockey for 25 years and I am a huge Detroit Red Wings fan.

When I was younger I was obsessed with dirt bikes, but marriage and old age cured that.

I’m probably more obsessed with mandolins than basses, if the truth be known.

I’m an avid reader. And I have several other interests (electronics, modular synthesis, woodworking, fine cooking, writing) I actively pursue. But I never actually obsessed over anything that I can recall. My motto has always been: “Everything in moderation - including moderation.” ;)
