What Artificial Intelligence thinks Talkbassers look like

Rather than do something productive with my morning, I went to an AI image generating website (nightcafe) and input a bunch of talkbass related prompts to see what it would come up with. It did not disappoint

Prompt “Typical talkbass user”

Seems about right...

The warpy string instruments are so weird, I've seen that from AI before. You'd think that if it's processing of bunch of images of guitars, it would register that their strings are straight lines.

It's called AI but it's not AI. It's literally just collaging discrete little bits of different images. Every one of those images from a picture of a stringed instrument held at a slightly different angle. The system "knows" the lines from each of those little bits of images have to be connected, but it has no sense of "why" they are, it's only observing the statistical likelihood of that continuity.

ChatGPT works the same way. It doesn't know anything. It is simply stringing together discrete chunks of text according to its record of statements related to the statements you feed it. There is no sense of "truth", which is why you can ask it to do things like Link Removed.
