I'm with Rakie. There's nothing missing, tonally,from my Variax. I want to put a thinner neck on it, and some better machines, but otherwise, I don't think any other single bass is on my list. It would be cool to put a fretless neck on one of them (I have two).

Not that there isn't a lot of nice basses I wouldn't want, but really... I love the feel of my two basses, i've played tons and tons and TONS of basses... hell, when my buddy picked up this BTB (That I now own) we went to 5 Sam ash and 3 Guitar Centers, played every one they had and *THIS* one felt good...

You know those 1/10000 Fender MIM's that supposedly feel godly ? That was the case with THIS BTB, same with THIS Lakland that I've got.

SO since im in love with the feel, figure I might as well go all out for the sound.

Next one is going to be a custom-built that I'm going to help with. About the only things I have decided so far are 5 strings (BEADG) and trans green over quilted maple top. Possible with bartolinis and maybe fretless, but I'm not sure on that yet.

some kind of fret less at least a 5 if not 6 string

My next bass probably wont come until I finish with college, which wont be for another 2-3 years, but hey a guy can dream right. So what I'll be dreaming about is a MTD 635-24, walnut with wenge/wenge. But we'll see what happens.

Just got a Hwy1 Jazz. Next on the list is either a vintage/semi vintage P-bass or a new Stingray with a maple fretboard.

I don't know how soon any of this is going to happen, but I'd love to get a Highway One P bass, in black, and throw a Tort guard on there. Then maybe a fretless Warmoth neck for my Hwy One Jazz (I just LOVE these Nitro Finishes, plus the BadAss bridge comes stock).

But first, I want:

-A lot of effects, EHX Clone Theory Chorus, EBS Compressor and Octave, BargeConcepts VFB-X+Expression pedal, Ibanez AD-9 Delay, MXR Phase 90, Xotic TriLogic Preamp, EHX Nano Bassballs, Boss RC20XL Loop Station, and Homebrew Hemotoma are all on the list. (Over $1500 in effects there, not counting the power supply and board)
-To sell my rig for what its worth, and drop another two hundred or so into those earnings for a Traynor YBA-200 (plus new preamp tubes) and an Avatar Neo 410 (will add a Neo 210 later).
