What bass gods do you idolize?

How about Joe Osborn, Tommy Coggbill and Jerry Jemmott? Those guys could hang with any session. And don't forget Carol Kaye for the fairer sex. She did just a few critical tracks (Pet Sounds, etc) Also, someone already mentioned Willie Weeks and I have to agree.

Well, I will be quite banal:smug:
Roman Patkolo - as i have started my studies as a classical DB player
Bill Dickens - when I saw him slapping in the way he is doing that, I was blown away...
Stu Hamm - his tapping approach to bass-playing is awesome! I adore his "Flow your tears". A really sad song.

Les Claypool - for his random bass lines that are extremely creative and the fact he covers just about every style of bass playing.
Justin Chancellor - was originally a guitarist and you can see how it influences his bass lines to be more like lead guitar fills on bass.
John Paul Jones - to me he is the definition of Classic rock bass players. And he had the most define tone for classic rock
Ben Kenney - So many of his grooves just define a lot of the songs Incubus does.
Robert DeLeo - This guy can just come up with the most amazing fills.
and Tim Commerford - He is just a steady bass player that is damn good.


This isn't really my opinion on who is the bass gods, there are a couple that I put that I think should be recognized as bass gods but these are just more of my main influences and why.
