What Bass Made You Stop Looking for Others?

Every time I think I need or want another bass, I grab my Frankenstein bass, play it and quickly realize it has the perfect tone and can do everything for me, no matter the amps, cabs or room.

I never stop looking. My only "endgame" is to find the bass with the best tone, so I can sound better than the next guy. My #1 basses are a Lull PJ5 and a Sadowsky MV5. I've not found any better (within budget) in more than 10 years of looking.

I dare say(because we know how that goes) my Sadowsky PJ5 with Nordstrands is really a do-anything bass for me and for all practical purposes I shouldn't need anything else. Ticks all the boxes: active (with the famous "Sadowsky sound" to boot), passive (sounds like my 70's P in passive on the front pu), and last but not least it's a fiver so there's a four string built in. The only thing it can't do is fretless which I have not needed for my work in about 30 years. If I get anything else in the near future will probably just be another one of these.

4 string I know what is a Fodera Monarch Standard fretted and Fretless.
Had fretted on loan for a very long. For now its my dream bass.

5 string thus far STINGRAY SPECIALS.

But I LOVE Jazz Basses so my next 5 string is going to Ibanez Mode J bass.

Just curious, has anyone here found the bass that completely stopped the gear hunt for you?

Was it something boutique or surprisingly a production model? For me, certain basses just feel instantly "right" and make me play more instead of searching for upgrades.

What was your endgame bass and why?

I haven't purchased a bass in a while but not because of buying any particular instrument, I just haven't done any projects lately that my current basses can't already handle well.

I finally replaced my old 85 L2K with a 2024 and not only does the new one play much better, it's also sounds way more articulate. Any desire I had to get a Bongo or any other bass has kind of ceased.
