What Bass Made You Stop Looking for Others?

I scored a well loved walnut US Peavey Cirrus 5 string.
After I added a pair of walnut thumb rests, a Millenium preamp and 15 coats of gloss lacquer, I'm a happy camper.

It didn't hurt that I already had a vintage P.

Bought it, brought it back from the brink, made some mods. Ending the GAS wasn't immediate but I kept going back to it and have since just…given up on anything else.

Tbh I never really thought I would stop but there it is.

Yes… but it *wasn't* a bass I bought!

5 or 6 years ago I sent an email to Paul at Wal Basses asking him to put my name in the queue. I knew I'd have the wherewithal to afford a badass bespoke instrument as a birthday gift for my impending 65th, and I'd always wanted a Wal, so I figured it was now or never.

My name came up in the queue last year, and Paul reached out to me to confirm I was still interested. And after some pretty comprehensive discussions about features and options (and, admittedly, tariffs) I eventually concluded: I *don't* want a Wal. In fact, I DON'T WANT ANYTHING!!!

I already own (8) perfectly fine basses, some of them already pretty swanky/boutique, and there is nothing that I want to be able to do on the bass that I can't do with one of them. My needs are already met. I'm good.

I mean, yeah, I'd still LOVE to have a Wal! …but I'm not looking for anything else to add to the stable.

I REALLY love the thumb rest of the bridge pickup of that bass . One step forward on ergonomics for Rick.
