So I recently made an interesting discovery - when you buy your 6-months pregnant wife a massage, she becomes amenable to you saying "you know, Total Wine is on our way home - why don't we make a quick stop?" This was the result:

I was turned on to the 4 Squared by my brother-in-law, and it's my current favorite.

I wouldn't have been much help anyway. I'm still very much a neophyte when it comes to Scotch, and this is actually only the 2nd brand I've had - since I started, I've only ever bought myself Macallan. All I can say is that this is different, but I'm enjoying it just as much.

I hadn't seen the Whisky thread, but I do love the Doublewood. best Whisky there is in that price range IMNSHO.

I'm a Talisker man, when I have my druthers, but the Doublewood is no slouch.

For the person who asked: the Doublewood is finished in used sherry casks, and so it has some different rich subtle flavors that you will not find in any more "pure" whisky. "Richer" is, in fact, the single most appropriate adjective to my mind.

I'm not fond of sherry, but I think the casks work wonderfully for the Doublewood. Interestingly, I love Porto, but I haven't liked any of the Whiskies I've tasted that were finished in Port barrels. The flavors just don't belong together for me.

I dont know... its possible.

I dont tend to keep pictures of my beers. If I get something special, I keep the bottle up on a shelf.
When I want to post in here I just google the beer I drank.

Good beers get lodged in my memory. Most have unique artwork & names, so its even easier to recall whether Ive tried a beer and/or liked it.
Only the really good beers make my bottle shelf.

If I find a brewery that I really like, then I don't have to remember the beers. This is the case for me with Stone, Lagunitas, and Bear Republic: I just like everything they make. Sure, Bastard, Double Bastard, Ruination, Little Sumpin' Wild, Brown Sugga, etc., may stand out, but it's all good. Others, like Sierra Nevada and North Coast have a few big winners (Celebration, Hoptimum, Bigfoot - Rasputin, Old Stock), and some, like Rogue, make so much stuff that there's always something good in there (Old Crustacean) even if I'm not impressed with the great preponderance of their products.

4 squared is tasty! If I see it on draft when I'm out I get it, perfect for summer. I am a big Real Ale fan.

I went to the local beer-fest today, it was pretty nice. I didn't want to spend much money and I also wanted to taste a few exclusive beers so I didn't get to try many. Servings were about 200ml.

Here's what I had:

Special editions:

Dunham microbrewery; casked A.P.A.
Scouche farm & artisanal brewery; Double Belgian Barrel aged in Bourbon cask
La Souche artisanal brewery (none of their beers are bottled); Hedleyville (maple syrup brown ale) and their american I.P.A.

Bottled beers:
La Barberie; Nelson Sauvin Pale Ale
Dieu du Ciel; Solstice


I also saw my ex-girlfiend there and she's put a lot of weight on; double victory.
