What can't google do?

umm... so basically google is scaring me.

they are grabbing up more and more power with all of their amazing free services, and more and more people are becoming dependent on their services (ie news channels now use google earth in their news reports).

Now they are getting into politics with working with China to set up and keep the country's internet running. Another thing that is interesting is their large, free standing money supply. Something like 5 billion in liquid assets?

next thing you know, they have taken over the world with free computers given away at walmart, running a Google OS.

A Google OS? Hmm... Their programmers and marketers seem to know what they're (notice the correct grammatical usage of "their" and "they're"? ;) ) doing, so why not?

But I mean, like, what did you put in the translator that came out "It's just anotha homicide." ?
I didn't, it's not a translation of what I typed. It's a translation of the TB web site by typing in "www.talkbass.com" in Gizoogle.

I believe that is the first page of talkbass when you are not a registered user.

I only copy and pasted the results.

Check out earth.google.com. Google bought up a company called Keyhole who does satellite mapping and have now integrated (and offered for free) Keyhole's SW into their website. It can give you sat images in hi res or low res depending on where you're looking based on an address or lat/long coordinates. It's pretty cool.

Personally, I think Google is amazing. I use it for just about everything and even use my Google toolbar more than my address bar in MSIE. Frankly, I don't even think I need the address bar.

I use it for everything. Frankly hitting Alt-D -> tab then typing simple equations is quicker than Start -> Run -> calc for the simple equations.

This is going to be amazing when it gets up to speed.

http://books.google.com/

It is really handy when writing research papers. Instead of spending 10 min. thumbing through a book looking for a quote, I can just select that book and search a few words outta the quote and it will give a page number. Check out the options under advanced search to see some of the cool stuff you will be able to do with this.

ok, this might sound like a stupide question to some of you, but I have no idea. How does a company like google gets rich?

I mean, all they do is offer more and more free services. No one has to pay for them....

Do a search on google and look to the right.

See the sponsored links?

Every time you click on those, Google gets money.
