What city has the best mass transit?

Since 1951, it's grown to about 22 different boats that cover around 10 different routes connecting Seattle to the Peninsula and British Columbia, passenger only and vehicles + passenger. Most of them can carry a dozen semis, 100 cars, and many many people. It's a GREAT way to travel ... they serve food, beverages, & booze, and are relaxing and scenic as a postcard

When Rainier goes boom, we are all toast anyway. I'm only here to enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.

I meant within the Seattle city limits. When Rainier blows, the chance of massive damage is about 100%. Tacoma will likely disappear under an enormous mud flow, as will the Kent Valley and everything else down there. I'm not sure if the flows will engulf Seattle and Olympia. There will be disruptions.

Being a fellow that likes to live in the sticks I never had much experience with mass transit. Last year we visited Washington DC/Baltimore. Only way to get around was via mass transit. This country boy was intimidated at first. But man it couldn't have been simpler. I was way impressed with the efficiency of the whole thing. This simple country boy tourist didn't get sideways once and I saw everything I had in my tourist handbook and then some.

I've used the train or subway or bus all over Italy and Rome, Paris, London and all over England, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovak Republic, Sydney, all over Thailand into Laos, New York, Los Angeles subway, Amtrak, and buses and trains all the way down to San Diego, and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I mostly grewith up, and have taken BART to Cal Trans to buses to metro down to Santa Cruz, pretty much everything but Greyhound long distance, but even my friends that do say it isn't bad from northern to southern California and I trust their word. I like to think between my friends and family I have a good handle on public transportation and I would say London has the best, easiest system for in city transport. Now the train we took long distance from Prague to Vienna was a sweet two story train with tons of room and power outlets and room to sleep, and I loved it, but that's only the best long distance I've found. For shorter, more daily use I would vote London as having the best most practical system. Viva la tube!

I can tell you what ISN'T the best.

Toronto.

Garrrbbaaggeee. It's overpriced, subway is hardly effective for the price we pay, it closes at 2, making certain areas completely unreachable, and other areas have busses that either show up every 45 minutes, or not at all, even in peak times, busses just...won't appear.

I'm fortunate enough to live in a central area of Toronto where the subway is a 5 minute walk, but getting to work on certain days is impossible, short of leaving my house 2, maybe 2.5 hours before I start.
