My wife's friend was selling their IKEA Varde butcher block kitchen island. Using it to work on guitars is obviously not the intended use but as you can see, the cases fit perfectly and as it's a butcher block top, I don't need to worry about spilling/hot solder/pounding on it. And it's counter height so no stooping.

Man, I saw those case slats and thought you had some über custom thang going on. Very cool use of ikea particle board!

Got nothing for Christmas and I'm not at all unhappy about it. My wife and I stopped exchanging Christmas presents many years ago. Instead we give Christmas money to the folks who pick up our trash, the postman, etc., plus gifts to the little tykes in our family. That makes me happy enough.

Gift to myself was a pair of Harbinger Vari v2112s for monitors, from my wife and bro in law, a Behringer Xenyx x2442usb mixer. Combined with my already existing Alto TS115As, mics, stands, light effects, all I need is longer xlr cables on the way, a new convertible hand truck, and maybe subs....

My awesome mom got me this Ampeg B-100R combo to replace my wonky old GC Acoustic 1x15

Funny thing... on the Acoustic I had to bump the mids quite a bit to get the tone I was after; with the Ampeg EQ'd totally flat, I'm right at home... I guess now I know where that elusive "tone in my head" came from all along. I'm absolutely in love with this thing the way it pulls off the classic Portaflex vibe, both tonally and aesthetically. When I crank up the gain and roll off the bridge pup on my Jazz, I get a really meaty P-bassy sort of punch... first thing that comes to mind is Alan Spenner's playing on Jesus Christ Superstar.

The headphone port is a super sweet feature, too... sure is nice to be able to practice plugged in, but unamplified.

My wife had been asking me for weeks/months what I'd like for Christmas. Of course, she was asking after the G.A.S. had subsided. After narrowing it down and doing a "root cause analysis" with my wife, I got an ESP LTD Vintage 214 in natural ash. It's beautifully constructed. My only gripe is the neck. Apparently I'm not a P-bass neck guy. It feels too fat for me. It's not terrible. I'm just not used to it.

Does anyone know if a Might Mite neck will fit one of these basses? I noticed that the ESP has 1 more fret. What is a fret between friends?
