What Did You Learn In 2013

Oh, I'm also finally taking it upon myself to learn German like I've always wanted to! My mom somewhat forced me into taking Spanish back in grade school, but my heart was never into it and, as such, I never learned much beyond the elementary level stuff. I've only been studying German for three days now, and, while I can't speak it or write it without outside help, I am starting to be able to read it and comprehend someone speaking it pretty well!

2013 taught me TO NOT RIDE A BICYCLE IN TRAFFIC! A car hit me. Although I wasn't seriously hurt, I came close to being killed. The experience changed my life and I'm a different person now. Some +s and some -s in my mental attitude.

Other than that, 2013 taught me to practice bass more and bicycle less!

In 2013, I learned

1. That I can live with out a gall bladder, appendix, adrenal gland, spleen and 40% of my pancreas.

2. What it's like riding in the back of an ambulance. Three times.

3. To live in the moment.

4. Mazda Miata's are fun cars to blast around in.

5. Ziltoid is a really decent caring guy.

I learned to play keyboard moderately well.

I learned that my original but unverified assessment that mmorpg's were bad for people like me was right.

I learned what GAS meant (not that i have it, i just didn't know the term before i joined in september)

I learned that most if not all of my favorite looking basses have tones i can't really use

I learned that (while no genius) i was a better composer than i ever gave myself credit for and wish i'd realised years earlier i didnt need anyone else to make the music i want to make

I am moving away from active to passive, a parts P & fretless Jazz becoming go to axes.

Intrigued with the concept of six strings, fear I would become "lead bass", lol.

Heh, I took on the six strings specifically to accommodate the possibility of lead bass. Then again, I play in a trio and figured the guitarist would like a break from always playing the solo. :p

That said, it's just as conducive to groove. See John Myung for a great example of a more conservative 6-string player in heavy metal.
