In my Mauritian heritage forum some interesting comments about the local patois - Kreol.

From one guy:
“Just an interesting comment on 'creole' or the Mauritian patois that would from what you write originate from a mix of French, the native language of slaves and Malagasy.

I have now lived in England for over 60 years and quite a few years ago when I was in a store in London's West End, I heard a couple of African ladies in smart native dress talking to each other in a dialect that I could understand - not far removed from Mauritian 'creole'. They must have come from one of the French sub-Saharan, African colonies.

I subsequently could converse quite easily in our respective 'patois' with my dentist's dental nurse who came from St Lucia, a French colony before it was taken over by the British.”

Others chimed in by adding Louisiana! and Haiti to the list of mutually intelligible Creoles to Mauritian, plus French Guyana (on the Sth American mainland).

Another disavowed Louisiana.

Anyway, I found it interesting.

I spoke to a true acolyte of the QAnon phenomenon at length yesterday. I’ve had concerns for years about the mental health of a large swath of our population but after yesterday i’m more concerned than ever. This guy is a successful business owner and the most delusional individual i’ve spoken to since the day i talked to a true “lost cause” believer. They both are completely invested in what is doubtless a complete fabrication, but it’s a relatively small (and shrinking) group of die hard racists who cling to the lost cause, mostly because it legitimizes their prejudices, but attraction to QAnon is one of the fastest growing groups on the planet.

Having sampled proteins not normally associated with human consumption, they all had potential and some were quite good. I’m always willing to try seared animal flesh.

Are you SURE you had chicken? The diner I used to frequent was right next to a pet store, and I'm not saying for sure that anything necessarily improper went down, but at bar time you could about serve anything.
