What did you learn today?

Today I learned (well, a doctor confirmed it at least:)) that I cannot, in fact, win a pushing contest with a 3-ton container of freight that got wedged into a cargo hold without sustaining an injury.
One busted shoulder later, I'm off work for at least a week, and chewing happily on some painkillers.:D
Someone needs to spend more time in the gym on legs day... ;):D

Get well soon and enjoy the narcotics!

Just because you didn't doesn't mean you couldn't. :hyper:

Seriously, I hope you feel better soon.

Bummer. A few weeks ago, I exceeded the weight limitations of my (60+ year-old) left should while lifting an old couch into a landfill container. Now, both shoulders are dodgy...

This time, it's about time, but who's counting?

The 18th century English mathematician Isaac Newton thought of time as behaving like a giant universal clock. And to this day, most of us are instinctively Newtonians – we think of time as something that divides neatly into seconds, minutes and hours in a way that’s as regular and predictable at the farthest reaches of the cosmos as it is in our kitchens. But since Newton, scientists and philosophers have discovered that time has some weird tricks up its sleeve. This week we’re talking about twins who grow older at different rates, broken vases that jump off the floor to reassemble themselves on the bench, and why quantum physicists are learning to do without time altogether.

A few hours ago I was told that an older close relative was diagnosed with leukemia that is too advanced to treat.

:(

Ive seen several loved ones pass away in the past 2 years, and now this sad news today has made me realise the truth about how much more frequently your friends and family pass away once you go over the hill of middle age.
