What did you learn today?

What did you learn today?

I learned something rather wild today. We went to a furniture store, that we have been buying from for a few years, to see what they have left in stock as the owner is retiring and has been liquidating his inventory. We bought a couple of Amish made chairs and a wool Persian rug. If there are labels on furniture we get I usually look up what I can about the company on-line. Well I found out that one of the chairs was made no later than 11 years ago as the maker was a small shop that went out of business in 2009 due to being convicted of complicity to commit murder of his wife!!! :wideyed:

It a really cool little folding chair made of quarter sawn white oak.

Just started an online course on Machine Learning. So far I've been through the first lectures and homework assignment.

My goal is to bring myself up to an expert level as quickly as possible, because I'm curious about this stuff and tend to learn best by giving myself a project.

Stay at it!
Great attitude

Great Fun!

How not to rename a project in Visual Studio... gleck... StackOverflow totally let me down :-(
Excel VBA InStr function... very helpful in parsing logs created by PowerShell. I don’t normally use Excel for string parsing but today it was expedient.

Reading a book about obscure words I was immensely delighted to read that the FBI spent over 2 years investigating the morality of the lyrics of the Kingsmen's 'Louie Louie'!

On 17 May 1963 they declared it Officially Unintelligible.

Conrad Sundholm's brother played bass for The Kingsmen.

The Sunn amp company was born out of the need to have a louder, less distorting bass sound.

The fastest 100m times ever. Names crossed over were caught doping. It's funny how this list looks similar to Lance Armstrong before he was popped. Only a matter of time before (most likely) this whole list is crossed in red.

Either Bolt is a true freak of nature, or he's been taking something beyond turtle soup and other natural folk recipes.

The actress who plays Cecile Horton on CW's "The Flash", Danielle Nicolet, is the same one who played Karen in "Third Rock from the Sun" (in Dick's physics class).
