Seriously though, I don't really care. That's the key. If it's a girl I really like that is trying to friend zone me... well that sucks, but there's nothing I can do that would be more effective than ignoring the situation altogether.

I find a quick, "You sure complain a lot" will short circuit that conversation an make her hesitant the next time. If I'm in a long term relationship then I have no problem with letting her vent when she needs to. Or in the case of a woman I'm friends with but I'm not attracted to (such as my female colleagues at work) I can be a sympathetic ear if they need it. If that helps them, fine. Just so long as it isn't an everyday thing.

But for a girl at college that you are attracted to? No thanks. I'd have nothing to do with that role. There is no upside.

(1) He's not dating her
(2) She's complaining about her ex-boyfriend, which means she hasn't move on and will probably hook up with him again.
