What do you do when a girl starts complaining...

...because we all know that's the express lane to the friend zone. Especially if they are talking about an ex-boyfriend or issues they are having with friends. I generally just nod understandingly but QUICKLY change the subject. However, the abrupt change is usually a bit awkward.

Your thoughts?

Maki?
Call me a genius, but I used to hang out with this girl that complained about her boyfriend infrequently. Her biggest gripe was that he didn't like to go out or drink too much. Then, my Forrest Gump-like IQ took over.

I thought:"Hey. I like to go out and drink. Maybe I should mention this."

So I did. And we went. And her boyfriend got REAL pissed. And I happened to mention that he seemed jealous. And maybe controlling. And when she dumped him, it turns out I was right and not just lying.

So then we did the going out and drinking thing for a few years and I decided that I wanted to go out and drink with her on a more permanent basis. So I bought an expensive bottle opener (or ring, whatever) and that was that.

as a girl I just have one thing to say...

give her a hug , that is the fastest way to a girls heart, then tell her about a song that reminds you of her problem and tell her to listn to it...then you can start talking about music and change the subject.

...if she is complaining about a guy slip in that you wouldnt ever do something like that.

That's great if you're talking about your MOM. :eyebrow:

Of course that would be a nice thing to do, and it's understandably the way most woman would respond.

However, I'd love to see the responses from the same women who responded that way when asked the question "What do you do when a man starts complaining". I'd bet my house the responses would be much closer to:

- "Oh, like YOUR life is so tough!"

- " What makes you think it's about YOU?!?!"

- "Cry me a river, Mr. Youhaveitsobad!!!"

- "Be a man, stop your whining!"

- "Boo hoo! Did you ever think what it's like for me?!?! Remember the time you <something he did 27 years ago>..."

- "Typical man!!! You think the world revolves around you?! You think it's just going to stop because you got your feelings hurt?!?!"

:D

I turn on my head music... Usually all i hear is clown music... tan tadararadantada tara tara taaaanaanannaanananannadada...

Sometimes when she stops talking and looks like she wants me to say something, i say "you are right, it's pretty sad." That covers all grounds right there, either she is right to be a biotch and other party is a sad excuse for * or she is right and the story she told me is sad...

Grow some marbles and ask her out.

If she says no, then you don't need to listen to her complain anymore.

+1. There you go. Additionally here are the following Man Laws.

107a. All explanations may be “ignored” with a pre-established gesture that is understood by both parties (for instance, holding up one finger, or a palm facing the speaker).
108. man shall never consider any issues, rants and /or problems that any non-man may if they are more than 48 hours old. The "we need to talk" game can only be played with current issues.
108a. A man may, at his discretion, consider non-man problems older than 48 hours if said problem involves a possible visit from the in-laws, and or is beneficial to said man.
108b. Man may also consider non-man problems if make-up sex is possible.
