What do you do when a girl starts complaining...

...because we all know that's the express lane to the friend zone. Especially if they are talking about an ex-boyfriend or issues they are having with friends. I generally just nod understandingly but QUICKLY change the subject. However, the abrupt change is usually a bit awkward.

Your thoughts?

Maki?

If it's a chick that you're into, you tell her with a smile. "Listen sexy, if you're gonna complain to me about stuff then you must mistake me for your boyfriend. If I'm your boyfriend, then we should make up for all the time we should be having sex instead of talking. If you're talking right now then you should be naked. So take off your clothes and get to work." :D

If it's a chick you're not into, you shouldn't be talking to her in the first place.

Yeah, seen that. Even worse, I've got the "sorry I just got to talk a few things through with my ex, be right back" -thing, when the ex happened to be at the same party with the girl. She did come back, though, but it wasn't a very pleasant experience. So yes, I'd advocate the "Listen, sugar - it's not your ex I'm interested about, it's you. So how about you forget that sucker, and focus on the new, better guy and making your ex jealous?" -approach.

By the way, have you noticed that nothing is a worse turnoff than a girl complaining about her completely idiot ex, especially if you see the particular guy in flesh. "You're saying you really went out with that cretin? For two years? Wow, sorry, I might not be the million dollar price, but I was looking for someone with slightly better standards, see ya."

When a woman starts bitching, my ears just lop over, like a camels nose closes in a sand storm

In Japanese you just say "hunto" or "hunto ni" (with more emphasis) in the gaps and I can keep the white noise going until she exhausts herself. Hunto loosely translates to "really?"

That's when I'm being kind. Most of the time I can't be bothered to vocalize. I go to my happy place which is right about here.

I hear her and if i find her points valid, i apologize and make an attempt to change because i love her. if i don't i tell her she's wrong.

Then i slap her in the face with a wad of money.

But seriously. You handle it like you would anything else, fairly.

I don't follow the logic. A woman complaining to you means she just wants to be friends? What am I not understanding?

When I was dating my wife, I paid close attention when she was complaining so I could gain some knowledge about what bothers her the most.

my experiences are that when a girl complains to you, they are opening up to you, and that might even mean they like you...or they just want to be friends ;)

as a girl I just have one thing to say...

give her a hug , that is the fastest way to a girls heart, then tell her about a song that reminds you of her problem and tell her to listn to it...then you can start talking about music and change the subject.

...if she is complaining about a guy slip in that you wouldnt ever do something like that.

...I'm totally going to try this next time.
