I too save my strings but for a year at a time, then recycle with other stuff. I have removed the ball ends from every set of strings I have strung up. All totaled it is 5/6th of a medium-small mason jar. I have made jewelry a few times and donated to a few dozen to hipsters over the years to do the same thing. Upright ball ends for ear gauges for band mates, or sinker weights for fishing.
I tried to use an old E string as a weed eater line once. The string came apart after 30 seconds, and I'm probably lucky I didn't hurt myself.
Jeebus Jason. Your stockpile has mine beat. Have you considered giving those a good long DA soak and selling them on your site somewhere or donating them to local high schools for their music programs?
