What do you drive?

'01 Saleen Mustang, single turbo with built 5.0L DOHC, Accel DFI, full tubular suspension front and rear, 8 piston front calipers with 14" rotors, 4 piston/13.5" rears, etc etc. Built everything myself, including engine (worked as engine machinist) and turbo setup. The amount of horsepower is greater than the cost of my last bass!

It's out at Pacific Raceways there. I wasn't driving that day, though, because I had a double kart race the next day. That was about 2/3 years ago.

Also, a Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel. Decently modified and still gets ~22-23mpg.

I'd still rather be driving a shifter kart or OW car though!

Those MX-5 pics just made me like the Miata even more. Thanks

I have always loved the Miata. 2007 was the first year for the hardtop. I usually don't buy cars when they are new and hot on the market (because it's hard to negotiate price), but my wife and I were so excited about the hardtop model that we just couldn't wait. I got a little off sticker, but not much. ;) It really is a fantastic little car.

PS Yes, it is a 4.0 i6 ...one of the best engines ever made... 221k miles and still going and doing that stuff. :)

I drive a 2006 Dodge Dakota Quad. V6, but Its' alright on power.

5 liter DOHC? What is that, a stroked 4.6 or a one-off custom?

8 piston calipers? Who makes those?

66 (brand new interior :) )

Nice first car.

I had a '66 fastback that I repainted that same off white. Bone stock down to the hubcaps. Plus or minus 50 pounds of fiberglass and Bondo.:p Some cars seem to have a soul, and that car was one of 'em. Couldn't drive it without smilin'.

Right now, we're driving a completely souless Olds Intrigue(with leather-woot!) and a Mazda Tribute. The Missus has me looking into a Mazda 5- seats six and still gets reasonable gas mileage. I'd rather have the 3 that it's based on. ZoomZoom Zoom!

Yeah, 4wd... 2wd jeeps = worthless. :)

plus I don't think 2wd would have made it there.

BTW, Just got a call from a body shop i send application to... interview Thursday morning. You know what that means, a free rack to work on the jeep and discount on parts... Lift... Here i come!!!

Currently, I'm driving a '72 Porsche 914--pics here:

I can just fit my SWR Workingman 12 and a bass in the front seat with the top off.

My wife is driving the family truckster--a 98 Jeep Cherokee.

I need something more practical that can haul gear, so I"m looking at a 68 Nova wagon (SS lookalike)--327, 4 barrel, 4 on the floor, shiny cragers and all that.

Ha, I figured you would be the one to notice that, Mike!

It's a Darton wet-sleeved big bore 4.6L. Bore is 3.700" over stock 3.54". I'm not a fan of stroked 4.6L's, for various reasons. They are a lot less of a PITA though compared to installing the Darton MID sleeves! There is a lot more fun stuff in the motor, though.

The calipers are Brembos. They were given to me by a dealer for doing an over-weekend cylinder head port and rebuild on his Ferrari 360 stradale (had a race the coming week). They are the front calipers off of a Lamborghini Murcielago (and probably Gallardo), and I think Porsche or Ferrari use them, though I can't remember for which specifically. I know the 575 and 430 FIA GT cars use these. For free, I wasn't complaining! I had to make the caliper brackets and brake hats for them, though, as these are radial mount rather than the stock axial mount calipers and required much larger disks. I should really be running 15" to maximize pad area, but that would be completely unnecessary as I have a tough enough time getting heat into them at the track anyway.
