What do you guys think about Clutch?

I think I'm in the minority among Clutch fans with this, but Beale St. to Oblivion is one of my favorite albums of all time. That band cuts a groove about 10 miles deep. No one out there right now locks in together like they do, IMO.
One of the greatest, under-rated bands in history...

I agree, my favorite Clutch album. I also really like Strange Cousins from the West.
Megadeth? Carly Simon sounds more like Megadeth than Clutch does. Well not really but I digress...
I have become a big fan of them. I love the big dirty grooves and deep lyrics. Love it!
Not a fan here. A few years ago, we were out on tour and our bass player (I was drumming at the time) put in 'Clutch'...the guitarist and I made him pull it out after 2 songs. Among our musician circles, I think they're over-rated (not in a Nickleback way, but in the bands that are more for musicians than regular listeners way).
I really don't understand how anyone could NOT like Clutch. In a world of genre wars and terrible music created by major labels, Clutch is old fashioned, in your face rock and roll. They are one of my favorite bands, of all time, ever. Neil Fallon is one of the greatest front men ever! His lyrics are amazing.
I agree they are so under rated as a rock band. They have that Sabbath sound with more energy. As for musicianship, they are very talented players. Just listen to the syncopation on some of the parts in the songs.
The riffs are interesting and catchy without being annoying. Yes Neil Fallon is a great front man!
To the guy who used the name Nickelback in his post, you should be ashamed for even mentioning the name of that awful band!
Been hooked ever since I saw the video for "A Shogun Names Marcus" on Headbanger's Ball in the early '90s

I just would like to see a reasonable explanation for the Megadeath comparison. That makes absolutely no sense to me. Ill keep an open mind though.

Yeah I don't quite see the Megadeth comparison either. They are more a twist on the Southern Rock sound but darker.
Saw em live and it was ****ing amazing. End of story.

The fan club. Not to bag on any of you guys unless you're the meathead type that often get thrown out of shows for fighting. The show I went to was no fun at all.
So, I guess if your initial response to this post is "Aw, quit being a p***y!" then yeah... You're the meathead type that makes Clutch shows no fun.
Clutch is indeed awesome, tragically underrated. If someone tells me they don't like Clutch I can not take their opinion of music seriously. I don't get the Megadeth comparison. You either have never heard either band, or you are trolling. I go to shows to watch a band play, I don't judge a band by their fans. That's just a little bit ********.

Spot. On. I just joined your mailing list without ever hearing your band because I can tell by what you just said that I can appreciate your taste in music.
While maintaining my love for Clutch, I can see how someone who just gave a surface listen might not dig them. When my roommate first spun the self titled disc for me back in '95, I was... meh, except for "Escape from the Prison Planet", but then "Elephant Riders" came out and I really listened to Neil's lyrics and the band interplay. Benn to probably a dozen Clutch shows since then, and I, personally, have never seen a fight at one. Maybe I just go to mellower venues?
