What do you guys think about Clutch?

They seem to be one of those bands you either love or love to hate. I heard one of their songs on TV once a while back and have been hooked ever since. But a lot of my friends seem to not like them/their music all too much.

So just curious, what do TBers think of Clutch? Thumbs up or down? I say thumbs up.

I just saw their drummer or guitarist (not sure which one, drummer I think) in my local Wal-Mart last weekend. Some of the members live right around the corner from me and used to throw KFC chicken bucket parties on the river about 12 years ago lol.

Bakerton Rd. is right off of (or near) River Road where I live. If you know about their side projects it will make sense to you.

Yes!! This is a band that has caused fights at party's I've attended. Either you love them, and will kill for them or think they are horrible. JP (drums) is a BEAST!!! He plays with what I call "swing". Not many drummers have this "swing" these days.

I am a fan, but will NOT kill for them!! HAHAHA> SPACEGRASS!!!

Slow at work today, so I went to youtube and took a listen to a few tunes.

Not my thing. At least there was some creative breaks and not just detuned crunchy guitars and cookie monster vox - so it gets points for that. There also seemed to be a bit of humor in it - and lord I'm *sick* of rock bands that take themselves so darned seriously!

Effin amazing! It's a band that the more you listen to them the more you like them. They never seem to get old and always have something new and original in a stagnant sea of monotony.

You can't help what others like/dislike but I've noticed that people who like the heavier classic rock like Zep, Sabbath, and Deep Purple tend to like Clutch.

A little too "Megadeath" for my tastes. Not bad though.

Really? I don't wanna get caught up in a labelling war but I think many will agree they sound absolutely NOTHING like Megadeth. Oh well...

One of my favorite bands for the last 10 years or so. I love Neil Fallon's vocals and lyrics and JP is one of my favorite drummers, quite like his work with Five Horse Johnson as well. I'm kind of a homebody so I don't travel much to go see bigger shows/concerts much, but my wife and I drove a couple hours to San Francisco for Clutch last year and they were well worth it.

I ♥ Clutch so much

No seriously prolly one of my favorite bands for sure. I've seen them twice (both at the same venue around the same time of year), and I will definitely go see em again. The Bakerton Group (their jazzy groovy side stuff) is just as awesome. Again its a love em or hate em band.

I did get my friend (who is normally a 3oh3! and the like fan) to go with the last time they came through. We were front and center, and it was my job to stand behind her with my arms glued to the security rail so that she wasn't crushed (shes like 5'4 and 110 lbs), but she had a hell of a good time. We'll definitely be going together again.
