anyhown its a good choice, otherwise money, seemann, that stuart hamm thingy until the moonshine sonata, some police, sting stuff...... whatever i can think of that is strong enough to represent a song. if i feel really good i'll have a shot at portrait of tracey or the chromatic fantasy.

Depends. If it is some dude, I'll play a Metallica riff, usually Master of Puppets. If it's a girl, I'll play Continuum, or Easy (Faith No More version.) If it's a girl, it also depends on what kind of girl.

If the person who asked me to play something is the same person who asked how come my guitar has only four strings; I just play the four open strings at the same time with no rhythm.

I've been asked that a lot. "Why did you learn the bass and not the guitar?" or I have been told "bass players are failed guitar players"

It depends on who is doing the asking and why. If they are of the "bass is easier because it has 4 strings" or "Why did you learn the bass and not the guitar?" train of thought or the question that sets me off, "Can you actually play something?" Well, they get either me picking the bass out of the stand and plucking the E string like I'm fixin to break it, then put it back in the stand and walk away, or they get the main bass line from "The Zoo" or any other song that is one steady note in 4/4 time!

If they are genuine, well then I ask them to name some stuff in a certain genre and if I know it, I try to oblige...or I play Mandocello from Cheap Trick. Few people know that song and the bass line has a great melody about it.
