Even with the Alto, you're going to have to EQ. I find that everything sounds a little too flat until I add the appropriate EQ.
Yes, but one of the things that's nice about the Alto is that I can set a custom EQ on it (or create several loadable ones) using a phone app. So I'll be able to set an EQ on the speaker without having to fiddle around with the global EQ on my Axe FX or, heaven forbid, mess with the eq on a patch-by-patch basis.

If you intend to record with any of your projects, I think it could be helpful to get used to using studio monitors. The 6" Kali are widely praised and cheap as chips.
I do a fair amount of home studio recording, and have Focal Alpha 65 and Shape 65 at the two locations I'm usually at.
They're not perfect, but they are reference monitors for me in the sense that I can refer to them and make decisions based on them. That's really the key here. I am accustomed to them so well - I watch movies and pretty much everything through them too. I have software going all the time with them, but I don't want to digress too too much.
If you intend to make records with the rig, I highly recommend throwing a few bucks at something like the Kali to get a handle on what it does in that environment.
if it's just for live, I'll defer to others and read that info with interest too.

You're referring to the Kali Audio LP-6 V2? Those do seem pretty cheap for what they are.
Yeah, those are the ones. I think it was the first versions that a friend of mine raved about. But also, they generally seem to be well regarded by people I don't know too.
My friend runs a busy Atmos mix room in LA and it's fully outfitted with them. He told me about them before that, when we were just having a conversation about a 2-channel configuration.
I've known this guy for over 30 years - I have what I have for hopefully defensible reasons, but unless the V2 is worse, I'm confident relaying his and others' experiences as a solid recommendation.
The specific model isn't super important - there are a bunch of choices that would do the job, just like wedges or IEM for the live side.
