This is so weird. I was born and raised in Fayetteville, and have absolutely no accent. I wish I could record for comparison.

Hey cool! Small world. I've noticed all the kids from here strangely have no accent at all. I think it's because their parents all came here from somewhere else.

I, on the other hand, am from much further south, the AR/LA border. I've noticed that the drawl starts right around the Conway-Little Rock area and gets progressively stronger south of there.

Anyway, nice to 'meet' you blendermassacre!

nice to 'meet' you too. My dad, who has lived within five miles of his birthplace (springdale) his whole life, has a bit of a twang. My mom, who grew up in bentonville has a full on southern accent. I, however, came out with some sort of non-regional dialect.

Haha, I have quite a boring voice; my parents moved around a lot when I was young, so I never picked up a regional accent.

'Proper' brummies pronounce all of their 'o's as 'u' and most pronounce 'th' as 'v' (so 'mother' becomes something more like 'mu-vah') and every damn sentence goes up at the end, so everything sounds like a question as well.

Londoners pronounce All their vowels as 'a', so they say 'Landan', 'matha' and 'banana', well, that last one doesn't change much, but you get the picture.

And we haven't even got to the plethora of northern city accents, or all the rural accents yet...

I've known a few Dutch folks from work and there's this peculiar way that you guys speak - it's as though you guys say everything with your lips tightly puckered... it's not an unpleasant accent by any means though!

Just a slight Southern "twang", love it! Any time a gal speaks with a Southern accent, I'm happy, it's like music to me

I think it's absolutely dreadful... People who talk like this tend to make a lot of grammar mistakes, and you can never hear the difference between the "t" and the "d" sound, same goes for "f" and "v", and "s" and "z". Very annoying.

During my work day, I end up speaking to people from all over the world on a regular basis. While I always give respect to the fact that these folks are speaking to me in English (their non-native language for the most part), I find very few accents annoying except for ... Chinese or Indian accents.. ..when working with Chinese or Indian folks, I find their tech people to be smart as hell and sharp in what they do, but the accents? They make me want to hang myself by the end of the day!!
The Dutch accent is absolutely fine, I promise you that.
