What do you think about my band's singer?

I myself am a HORRIBLE singer. People pay me to not sing. I'm not going to bash someone else's singing because of this. However, I think your singer would greatly benefit from taking singing lessons. If he's offended or uncomfortable, just let him know it's in the band's best interest for everyone to do whatever it takes to improve.

I comemend you for putting this out here. It takes guts to take your recordings public, and even more to straight up ask for criticism and advice. I hope you get some good advice from the TB community.

In fact he is already taking lessons, he is one of the most self conscious guys I've met.





BTW, am I the only one who feels that this got progressively more aggressive? No need to get angry guys. :D

I actually think he rules. In fact I also think the music could better compliment his singing lol. He sounds like a really off-key Robert Smith to me, and I mean that in the best way. You guys could be The Cure meets Joan of Arc. The music would have to be more weird...or less.... who knows. Just keep making music

And to me that tired chord progression was worse than any pitch/intonation issues, not sure if your band has more rockin songs, but I can see that voice over heavier stuff more than ballads
....kinda what opivy said above I guess, more out there riffs could work for this guys vocals

Here's an idea - don't ask for opinions and then get defensive when you don't like them.

Sorry, but your singer is awful to the point of not being listenable. I don't think that lessons are going to help. Cut your losses and get an actual singer.

On a positive note, IMO this song is quite a bit better than the first song you posted. Your singer's voice sounds kind of like a hybrid between being screamer-singer and fits this music background genre a lot better than your first song. Your first song's music is way too mellow for your singer's voice style. Anyway...carry on.

I don't think I am getting defensive, I am actually taking everything into account man. Just don't get angry, we are all friends in here :)

Well, that's good I guess. I actually believe he is quite a good singer for our style, most of the time. I mean, the first song I posted is definitely his weakest performance...

Okay, I got to listen to the heavier song(my connection is terrible today), much better for his vocals, yes it reminds me of early 80's style....

But this is coming from someone who actually likes some pitchy singing(the clash, Vio-lence(thrash band), first Exodus album, older punk...)

Not sure why you would post what you consider the weakest song. Normally you want to put your best foot forward when asking for constructive criticism. Just sayin.

I liked the beginning of the song and kept waiting for and was hoping for some sort of buildup but it never happened. I found the song to be very repetitive and boring. Maybe there are other songs that would better represent your band's sound. The singer is by far the weakest part of the band. He is flat, off key and has no range. I suspect that even though you said you like his voice, you are also starting to realize that he isn't very good. Otherwise, you wouldn't have asked the question.

I believe that our weaker songs are the ones from which we can learn the most. The first one is also the one I like the most, even though it is not our best song. I don't know if you understand what I am saying.
