What do you wear (typically) to a gig?

I NEED THIS!!!!!

I think one should always dress for the gig - a backyard party is different from a wedding, a punk band is different from country, etc.

I general, for myself, I generally try to look like I'm there to put on a show and not like I just came from mowing the lawn or whatever. A bit of "gigwear" so that, when I step off the stage, people can tell I'm there with the band.

I like that Carvin bass...very nice!

Here's me at a recent gig with my country band. We play rock and pop too... I like v neck tee shirts - they look just different enough to stand out a little. Total coincidence that this shirt matches my shoes - not planned at all but I decided it looks good! I do not subscribe to the 'no shorts' rule. The best player - by far - in my area regularly wears shorts. And sandals. Gasp. He still plays rings around everyone else. Also I try to avoid hats - but sometimes will wear a baseball hat to ward off the sun.

Commenting here on my apparel might bring the "no shorts" controversy to another thread.

But I like jerseys when not too hot. Griswold "00" Blackhawks, Driver "80" Packers, UWSP, Grumpy, Hard Rock, I have a few different ones.

If a hat it's a ball cap. Open to other styles but never found anything I liked, at least not yet.

It varies depending on the band I'm playing with. Hip hop band:

I wear my every day clothes, not trying to look like I have an interview at the local Steak N Shake. Usually a mix of black and red since those are the official colors of metal. I refrain from all black so I don't disappear or look like a stage hand.

I find it ironic that people can't stop talking about shorts, but they wear jeans. The generic hot stinky binding pant of the world. I'm guessing 4 out of 5 people reading this post right now are wearing jeans.

No judgement zone, I'm just curious what people like to wear on stage.
whoops
