What does Duff use on Slither from Velvet Revolver

What effect do Duff McKagan use on the song Slither from Velvet Revolver? What is it? Is it a fuzz or a overdrive or a distorsion pedal? I love that "distorted" tone and I do want to get close to it. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks

Ok, I'll try it. How do you know it's that specific fuzz from MXR? I use a Bass Big Muff but it's not the same tone and sound

Im pretty sure he uses GK amps exclusively. Not sure if that's changed though or not. Other than that, that El Grande fuzz sounds about right. I'm pretty sure he also uses a mammoth fuzz as well. Not much of a dirt guy.

Ah yes... I do recall he uses GK. The tone at the start isn't really that distorted though. Just sounds like some grindy overdrive. I've never used a Bass balls but I thought it would be a lot more distorted than that! Interesting.

Not sure if this is relevant at all to what Duff uses, but I have a recent Fender Rumble 100 combo amp and have to say I'm impressed with the built in overdrive. It's nothing fancy, just two knobs (Level and Drive), but it's reasonably neutral and quiet, and has a satisfying rock crunch.

He was still using GK when he recorded the Velvet Revolver albums, the Fender stuff is more recent.

If you look in front of the drums you can just see a little black box, that's the M80+.
He's not using as much dirt as on the recording but it's there.

Back then, GK 2001rb onto Gk 4x10. Likely recorded with his old fender jazz special. Drop D tuning.

I have the "Behind the player dvd: Duff McKagan" where he talks about that specific song. He says that he uses that fuzz in the intro of slither and he used the GK 2001 RB with GK 4x10 RBH cabinets with velvet revolver.
