Eminence specifies "Use a 40 Hz High Pass Filter" for the Med Vented Cabinet (p. 3 of pdf): last I checked, you could only sorta-simulate it with a parametric filter in WinISD (and playing with the Q of the filter - the smaller the value, the wider the bandwidth).Would one of you more knowledgeable guys mind checking something out for me?
I've been trying to use winisd and unibox, and have run the numbers that Eminence give for Delta 15LFA in med vented cab (driver l have and size of my cab). I get cone excursion past Xmax in both at 250W. Any thoughts why this might be, when the Eminence software says it is ok? I am new at this but usually pretty good at working things out, so to have two calculators giving consistent results that differ from manufacturer makes me want to double check before l start cutting ports. Thanks.
(No idea about how to simulate a hpf with the other program.)
But, as said above, it may still not be enough to bring the programs to agree exactly.
Aaand, of course, you may need a hpf in real life if you want to put big watts into the cab.
