What effect is this? Peter steele/type o negative

So there's this weird effect I can't seem to identify at 15:10 during a bass break and it's like this weird, deep, fuzzy, like maybe octave thing that sounds like the speaker is gonna explode or something but it's not his regular Ds-1 sound as he kicks that on right after

Could anyone help me identify this effect?

I think that's just him beating the crap out of the B string and kicking on the DS1.

It certainly seems to coincide with the notes on the B string (or whatever he’s tuned to). I think he’s probably not using the DS1 at that point and just using the clean + chorus sound, and probably overdriving something in the audio chain. He could be clipping the chorus pedal, his amp or cab, or maybe even something in the recording chain (though you’d hope they had enough headroom).

I think this likely a byproduct of his technique and settings, and not a particular effect used intentionally.
