Uhm.... I'm not sure what you mean about "not needing a cab except for gigs" - it's either a combo amp (amp and speaker in one box) or just an amp - if it's just an amp, it won't make any sound w/o a speaker, whether it's at a gig or in rehearsal.

We could answer this question and others in the future in a better manner if you used common usage English and if you would also include model numbers/names of whatever gear you're trying to find out about.
We're all guilty of a little bad grammar but at least we aren't normally using words no one else has even heard before.

As near as I can tell so far you bought an amp with a built in speaker and are wondering about whether or not you need an extension cabinet?

okay first of all welcome to the forum, i'm not going to chime in with some stupid remark okay. In reading this I am confused and It seems that you might still be. You bought a 200W peavey amp, but you said that you wouldn't need cabs until you play gigs. What you buoght, does it make sound by itself (ie. without anything extra) or is it just the box to power something else? I'm thinking you either bought a nice sized combo amp or a separate dedicated amp. If its a combo, in that it has speakers built in then you would not have a need (or use i think) for separate speaker cabinents.
