What exactly would be the difference between...

This Dean bass:

and this Epiphone Les Paul bass:

Besides the shape and the price? They both have the same kind of pickups... I don't know much about different bass guitars right now, but I have the Dean and I got GAS for the Les Paul. What do you think?

While the pickups may look the same, they likely do not sound the same as each are their own brand. Soapbar pickups, named for their shape, can have many different internal structures. They're both humbucking, so that's a similiarity, but that's where it ends.

As far as differences between the basses:
1. Materials. Epiphone is made from mahogany while the Dean is basswood and maple.
2. Body shape... neck profile... and everything else having to do with sizes.

Unfortunately, the specs are incomplete on both, and I haven't played either, so I cannot provide anymore information from what's provided at MF's website. They're very different beasts, that's for sure though.
