What Fender did I just buy?

All it says is Fender(old style logo) Precision Bass.
no serial. was told it's 80's Japan.
Is it posssible to confirm this?
and, no serial? anywhere? is is under something?

If you can get up some pictures, headstock front and back, body front and back and the bridge, we should be able to ID the bass. It's a shot in the dark without pictures.

Best guess for serial numbers would be end of neck, neck pocket, or possibly a date on the PU's or under them in the body cavity. Check the pots for dates too. I'm assuming from your post, there's no visible numbers anywhere on the outside.

There could be any number of reasons for no visible S/N. If there's been a refinish done, the numbers may be missing. Might be that it's not a Fender at all but rather built from parts with a bootleg logo on it (which is common) as the old style logo's are easy to come by.

You might head over to Invalid Link Removed and see if there's any info over there in the Fender section.

Hope this helps.

Maybe it's just the picture, but the headstock looks funny. The shape seems just a tad off. Looks like a nice bass though. Let's see a few more pics, close up of headstock front and back, and end of neck.

Thanks
