traded for an old V4 head i picked up for $200.(working) just had to throw some deoxit on the pots. So, I got a deal even though I could have pimped out the head for more given time. I prefer this neck to my Jazz bass whatever it it. thanks

The headstock on this bass looks like it could have been shaved down from an SX and a decal applied. I sanded one down to look just like this.
Suffice to say it my friend, but you got ripped off.

The headstock looks fake. Just look at the part where it's supposed to be roundy. There is what looks like a mishapen part there.
Used to be a different bass IMO, and not a Fender.
Even if it might of not been the fairest of trades, how does she play and sound? Might be worth keeping.
Regardless of whether or not it's counterfeit, I feel that everyone on this board should know how to spell bass.
I might agree but every SX I've seen had the truss rod adjustment at the headstock. This one seems to be on the heel but I can't tell from the pictures.
For sure not a true fender. The neck does however look like it has a nice slab of Rosewood on it. I don't feel it's worth as much as a V4 but that's just me. So figure $200.00 with a HSC. If the OP feels like it was an OK deal for him, who are we to argue. However, if the owner of the bass traded the OP on the premise that it was indeed a "real" Fender, then the OP got screwed and should ask for his V4 back.
I'll say for about the same money you could probably pick up a used MIM Fender bass which might be visually beat up but a nice player and it would still be a true Fender. Plus, i'm fairly sure you could go on CL and easily trade that V4 for a "real" Fender product with no problems at all.
I'd also have kept the V4. You could have sold that working V4 for a lot more than a fake fender bass.
My 86 MIJ P-bass's headstock does not look like that. Decal placement is off, shape is a little weird. But hey, if you are happy, then who cares?
